R Pant
The balance of species in the Pant has changed dramatically within the past few years. It was once a great dace river, and plenty of these fish remain, but now members are more likely to take large numbers of chub. The breaching of ponds upstream during floods has deposited a few carp in our stretch, and wild brown trout and roach complete the population in this prolific small river. There are four different access points to our 2.5 mile stretch, so members have a great deal of choice should they decide to rove with light gear, or stay put at feature swims, such as a mill pool, fallen trees or undercuts.
Chub 4lbs, roach 2lbs, dace 12oz.
The river crosses several roads, where members may park carefully, with short distances to swims. Otherwise the banks are reasonable to walk along.
