SPECIAL DEAL

Join from 1st January 2018 for  the 2018/2019 season, and fish until 31st March 2019 for the one fee.

Night Fishing at Barleylands and Laundry Lake

From 1st May 2018 an additional permit will be required to fish at Barleylands, Crays Hill & Laundry Lake, Little Easton between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. This has been introduced for the welfare of the carp at both waters, and to avoid angling pressure caused by overcrowding.

Please apply for this permit at the time of joining/renewing. Night fishing at Barleylands is available to existing members at no extra cost until 31st March 2018. Night fishing at Laundry Lake is only available from 1st May 2018, and is on a one season trial basis.

A single fee for each water will be £40, but for those wishing to night fish both the discounted fee will be £60.

With the exception of official BDAC matches (see handbook) keepnets are banned on all fisheries until further notice, due to a KHV outbreak in Essex. Please ensure landing nets, stink bags, carp mats, weigh slings etc are dried in sunlight before bringing them to club waters.

Straits Mill fishery will be closed on the 6th and 7th of December 2017 whilst tree works are being carried out.

R. Wid: The EA are going to stock the river Wid following the pollution caused by the Windmill scrap yard fire. They are planning to do this on 13th December at the blue bridge, the stocking is of 3 inch Chub and Dace possible some roach.

Straits Mill Pike Match:

m

The usual band of regulars plus one new member turned up for the fourth annual charity pike match. It was a crisp bright day with a light breeze blowing but quite nice if you were sat in the sun! As always the fishing was slow compared to pleasure sessions and everyone experienced finicky run's and missed them. Dave Twitchett ran out the winner with one pike of 9lb 13oz. Our very own fishery officer Geoff Latham was a close second, also with one fish going 8lb 8oz. Thank you to all who turned up to raise a few quid for charity. Thank you also to the anonymous donor of our new trophy. Now we have something to fish for, so hopefully we can get a bigger turnout next year! Tight lines for the rest of the season. Ken Brown.

A new fishery officer is needed for Willow Mere. Please contact the Fisheries Manager through this link.

Guest tickets: Following suggestions from members, the Club’s Committee has decided to introduce a 2-day guest ticket for Southminster only.

This will enable a guest to fish with a member from 6 a.m. on day 1. until 10 p.m. on day 2. enjoying a session of night fishing. The cost of this ticket will be £18. One-day guest tickets (6 a.m. - 10 p.m.) for Southminster, Straits Mill, and Asheldham will remain at £10 and are obtainable by phoning the Helpline on 0844 335 3978 (please have your 2017/18 membership card no. available and give a reasonable period of notice for us to post the pass to you).

LADIES AND MIXED PAIRS MATCHES

With 6 matches in the season, these matches are held at good venue’s and are very enjoyable. Sadly in recent times the number of members attending these matches has dwindled and the Committee would like to advertise these events to all Female members to attend either at the Ladies Matches or with your Partner at the Mixed Pairs Matches.

To book a place at these Matches, details of which are all shown on the 2016/2017 fixture list in your handbook, or for any queries please call Nick Mitchell on 07970 606558

Attendance to these matches would be greatly appreciated and would help save the events from cancellation

IMPORTANT: CLOSURE OF GATES
.
Leaving gates open WILL lose Club waters, and anyone found leaving or entering fisheries without locking our gates WILL face serious disciplinary action from the Committee.
