Laundry Lake

Evening all back from a wet and quiet windy day session with Nick Kersey.
We both fish pretty much every Monday on Laundry lake.
And today as normal didn't see any fish showing until the rods were out.
Rod 1 Ronnie rig with scotch 18mm and creamseed 14mm snowman pop up.
Rod 2 large ocean spice dumbell topped with plastic maize on a method feeder bound with creamseed stick mix and groundbait all mixed with hemp oil and lake water.
10:30 both rods out still no fish showing just beeps as my rods were banging around in the wind. Bivvy door done up and the rain and wind was mental at times then 14:10 4 beeps and I peeped out to find rod tipped bent round wicked, fish on. 17lb 8oz.
So rod back out on the spot 15-20 yards from the bank to my right. Then the rain stops for a bit and see a few fish showing and 17:00 same rods of again awsome I thought, 2 bites on the same day didn't feel big at all and it was a small home grown perfect little common at 7lb 14oz. So I thought this method feeder thing seems to be working as it's the first time I've really tried it so back on the spot. Got most of the gear back to the car just the chair, Matt and net left and 20:30 it only goes off again but unfortunately the bloody hook link snapped !! So who knows how big it was but didn't feel heavy.
Sorry forgot to mention Nick had 3 fish to a stunning 28lb mirror.
Next Monday is the last session before season ends.

Laundry Lake

Fished the sunny bank on the 12/12/16 didn't see anything show while I was setting up so as it was a warmer Monday December day I decided to fish one rod a few feet from the bank with my new testing bait from Total Baits. Rods were only out 30 mins and the first carp was in the net total day 4 runs landed 3 the other just shook the hook ?
But this is now my 3rd 3 fish catch so far this year.

Bicknacre

25th October 2016

An excellent session at Bicknacre finished with these three upper doubles the best of which weighed in at just over 19lb.  After a relatively quiet night these all fell to a basic bottom bait fished with a bag of pellet.  I had 6 other fish between 6 and 10lb along with the two that got away, the first slipped the hook just before the net and the other one managed to bury itself in weed before I could even get to my rod.  All in all some great sport and with such a strong finish a very enjoyable day.

Laundry Lake

Popped in to Laundry today with Nick and had 4 runs but only landed 3 as the 4th chucked the hook right near the net and why is it the the one that gets away always feels like a better fish. But happy with the 3 weighing in at 3.8lb , 18.8lb and a new lake PB for me @ 22.10lb.
And Nick's weighed in at 14.15lb with some stunning scales, @ 21.55 talk about last minute. Few

R Wid

6th September 2016.

Unfortunately I had left my half pint of red maggots in the boot of a hot car and they had all turned to casters.  Fortunately I remembered, when I was a boy, the best bait for river roach were chrysalis.  I also recalled a recent article in angling press – to enlarge holes with scissors and only half fill feeder.  Thus a few late afternoon/evening hours fishing the river Wid (upstream of blue bridge) resulted in quality roach, large dace and chublets.... plus a small crucian carp and a tench!!!!  The fishing only stopped when a pike crashed in on the act.

Can’t wait for some rain as the larger chub should then show.

Peter Yates – fishery officer

(Will also try lob worms – I remember they were great bait for larger perch.)

Parsonage Farm

I had a great morning today among the silver fish at Parsonage Farm. Fishing waggler tactics over a light hemp based ground bait, I managed to winkle out 30 + “goer” roach up to 1lb 7oz all on sweetcorn. I also had 9 of these little beauties weighing no more than 12 oz and scale perfect. Size is not everything.

Southminster

I went to Southminster with my friend Geoff last Friday as we haven't visited the fishery for a couple of years. I decided to try Pit 1 and after a slow start I managed 2 nice carp around the 8lb mark and 8 bream, the best 2 weighting in at 4lb 4oz and 3lb 8oz. I also had around 30 roach and rudd, most of the fish were caught on float fished sweetcorn with a few on pellets.
A superb day, will be going back very soon.

R Wid

I kicked off the new river season by fishing the river Wid at Writtle (top field - upstream of blue bridge) on Sunday 19th June (Father’s day).  The afternoon began very hot and sunny with some cloud late on.  Water level - flowing low and clear with some weed.  Trotting and feeder fishing red and white maggot over a few handfuls of hemp.  The shady, deeper parts of the river, proved productive.  Tried four or five different swims resulting in half a dozen good Dace, a few small Roach and two Perch.  Nothing but minnows from the weir pool and no chub?  Dare I say it, but it will fish much better with some rain!!

Peter Yates – fishery officer

PS Thanks to Geoff and his helper the river’s banks have now all been strimmed.

Laundry

A trio caught in the last 90 mins just 6ft from the bank in 2ft of water.
I arrived at about 4pm & loads of fish spawning and cruising on the top all day so I chucked a load of particle in the margins and all 3 fell to the hinged stiff rig.
Happy days
14lb 8oz / 17lb 8oz & 20lb

Windmill

I have attached two carp caught from laundry lake one common at 16 pound and one mirror at 22 pound and 14 ounzes. I also have photo a fish I caught at 19 pound 8 ounze common from willow mere. These fish were all caught during the end of May and beginning of June. Really enjoyable
fishing hoping for more results in the coming months.

Windmill

Today, Tuesday 24th May, I decided to give Windmill Lakes a go for the very first time.

I fished Long Lake which was quite slow to begin with as it was cold and very windy. However, things did pick up as the day went on and I ended up catching this rather nice 22 pound Common Carp plus a 10 Mirror and a 5 pound Tench. All fell to float -fished Luncheon Meat.

I will certainly go there again at some point.

I arrived at Parsonage Farm mid-morning on Sunday 15th May in the warm sunshine and was surprised to see only 3 other anglers on the lake.  As ever, the lake looked perfect with the lovely natural surroundings.  After a slow start I managed to land roughly 25 tench, the majority of which were between 2lb to 4lb and a few small rudd.  All of the tench were caught on the pole using a variety of small pellets only 4 to 6 metres out.

A very pleasant few hours fishing and I’ll certainly be going back soon.

Barleylands

I went fishing at Barleylands on Wednesday 4th May and Friday 6th May and on each occasion I was lucky enough to catch a 34 pound Common Carp.
Here is a picture of one of them which fell to a popped-up bait. Unfortunately, on both days each fish represented the only bite.
