A number of FGC cards have been purchased by the Club, and these will be available to 2017/18 members on payment of £10 per person in addition to their normal subscription. As the waters covered by the Consortium are in an open park, non-fishing people can access the park free. The fisheries covered consist of large lakes known as Hooks Marsh, Seventy Acres, and part of Langridge (also known as Holyfield) Lake, sections on the Lea Flood Relief Channel, and one or both banks of the Old River Lea.
The FGC cards we will purchase will show a start date of 16th June 2015, but we have negotiated with the Consortium that provided BDAC members who apply for their FGC cards have both of the documents with them, they may start fishing the Consortium’s stillwaters from the beginning of April. It is imperative, therefore, that members who wish to take advantage of this offer renew promptly (this will help us to estimate the number of cards to purchase).
Both the river and Relief Channel are subject to the 16th June opening. Fishers Green is situated north of Waltham Abbey, within easy reach of the M25. Details of fish stocks are available on the FGC website www.fishersgreencon.co.uk
, and many members will be aware of the quality of the chub and barbel fishing, albeit quite hard, on the old river, with a near-9lbs chub already having been reported this year. A map with access, car parking and the fishable banks will be provided with the FGC card.
